I congratulate the U12 Girls on a great win against the best team in the league, the Hudson Raiders. With the final score 1-0, the New Richmond Girls Pulled an early lead of 1, and kept the other team from scoring the rest of the game. Lydia P. scored the one goal, A great shot into the net, and also, Lydia P. And Bailey S. did a great job back on defense, keeping the Hudson girls from scoring. Tina M. and Sydney S. Did a great job up front working hard to score some goals. And Next, keeping the midfield safe, was Caitlin, Running really fast, determined not to let the other team have the ball.
There were a lot of times some opportunities for the other team to score with many open girls in the middle of the field, and a few tricky ones, but most of them were either stopped by Bailey S., or Kelly B. (bob), grabbing the ball, and diving into danger before the Hudson girls could get it.
Abby also did a great job in all the positions she played, with good control and aggressiveness.
Overall, every member of the team tried their hardest, spread out, passed, and did a great job! Awesome Job New Richmond!
(Also, for all players on the team, there will most likely be a video with highlights of some games, we are not sure what time it will be done, we still have to tape some more games.)
Also, good luck on Monday!

Which Drink is Better?
Which Drink is Better?
What drink is best for getting and staying hydrated during a game or exercise? Should you choose water? Are sports drinks best? What about juice or carbonated soft drinks?Water
The natural choice for hydration is water. It hydrates better than any other liquid, both before and during exercise. Water tends to be less expensive and more available than any other drink. You need to drink 4-6 ounces of water for every 15-20 minutes of exercise. That can add up to a lot of water! While some people prefer the taste of water over other drinks, most people find it relatively bland and will stop drinking water before becoming fully hydrated. Water is the best, but it only helps you if you drink it.
Sports Drinks
Sports drinks don't hydrate better than water, but you are more likely to drink larger volumes, which leads to better hydration. The typical sweet-tart taste combination doesn't quench thirst, so you will keep drinking a sports drink long after water has lost its appeal. An attractive array of colors and flavors are available. You can get a carbohydrate boost from sports drinks, in addition to electrolytes which may be lost from perspiration, but these drinks tend to offer lower calories than juice or soft drinks.
Juice
Juice may be nutritious, but it isn't the best choice for hydration. The fructose, or fruit sugar, reduces the rate of water absorption so cells don't get hydrated very quickly. Juice is a food in its own right and it's uncommon for a person to drink sufficient quantities to keep hydrated. Juice has carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes, but it isn't a great thirst quencher.
Carbonated Soft Drinks
When you get right down to it, the colas and uncolas of the world aren't good for the body. The acids used to carbonate and flavor these beverages will damage your teeth and may even weaken your bones. Soft drinks are devoid of any real nutritional content. Even so, they taste great! You are more likely to drink what you like, so if you love soft drinks then they might be a good way to hydrate. The carbohydrates will slow your absorption of water, but they will also provide a quick energy boost. In the long run, they aren't good for you, but if hydration is your goal, soft drinks aren't a bad choice. Avoid drinks with lots of sugar or caffeine, which will lessen the speed or degree of hydration.

U12 Girls
The U12 Girls have played a great season so far.
Their first game, vs. Woodbury, was quite a nail biter indeed. Nobody scored in the first half, and things were getting very nerve-racking for the people in the stands (A.K.A.: Lawn chairs on the side of the field) They ended up winning 1-0, Sydney scoring that one and only goal., I believe.
The second game wasn't as hard as the last, they beat Red Wing 4-0, Tina Scoring 3, Danni scoring half the other (It's a long story...)
The third game was the most challenging, the girls tied with St. Croix Valley 2 - 2, Laura scoring one, and I do not know who scored the other one. One of the goals for the other team was made by a penalty kick. How THEY got a penalty kick, nobody knows (not even one of the refs)

ANOTHER INDOOR SOCCER POSTING
INDOOR SOCCER is a great way to stay active with the sport you love. We are wondering who would like to play indoor soccer during the off season. The indoor soccer season runs from November through March and all games are played in the Dome in Stillwater, MN. Please take the pool before it closes and we will bring it up at the next board meeting.
